Microsoft’s 3 year old browser version is finally being laid to rest…kind of.
According to a blog post put up by Google, the Google Analytics service will no longer support Internet Explorer 9 starting on January 31st, 2015. The drop in support is reportedly due to new features that Google hopes to put into the software that may not work outside of the newest browsers.
Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 first launched in March 2011, and has since been replaced by IE10, and the latest version of the browser, IE11. Seeing as how the browser is 3 years old, and older browsers tend to hold back internet-based innovation, we can’t say that we are surprised that Google made this decision.
That being said, does anyone remember when it was a big deal that Internet Explorer 6 was retired?
