The Internet Explorer name and brand has been the butt of web development jokes for quite a while, but is all that about to change?
Microsoft confirmed back in late January that the upstart “Project Spartan” browser will be released with Windows 10, and will gradually replace what we know as Internet Explorer.
What we didn’t know for certain, was whether or not the Internet Explorer brand would be used for the project. That may no longer be the case.
The latest scoop
According to a report from The Verge, Microsoft’s marketing chief Chris Capossela mentioned that the launch of Windows 10 will effectively be the end of the Internet Explorer brand.
“We’re now researching what the new brand, or the new name, for our browser should be in Windows 10,” said Capossela. “We’ll continue to have Internet Explorer, but we’ll also have a new browser called Project Spartan, which is codenamed Project Spartan. We have to name the thing.”
What would you name Project Spartan?
